PSRC ECHS students

LUMBERTON — PSRC Early College High School welcomed students back to campus for the first day of the academic year on Tuesday.

Although the school year’s start date was delayed from August 7 to August 13 because of Tropical Storm Debby, students and staff members could be seen beaming with excitement as they returned to campus.

"We are excited to kick off the school year, and our staff gave a warm welcome to every scholar on campus,” said PSRC ECHS Principal Andrew Davis.

“It’s inspiring for our teachers to see so many scholars eager to learn. Friends embraced each other for the first time since May and positive energy resonated across our campus today,” Davis said.

The school is located on the campus of Robeson Community College and continues to grow. As of Tuesday, there were 279 students enrolled at PSRC Early College High School.

PSRC Early College High School’s program allows students to take college courses through the school district’s partnership with Robeson Community College, and graduate with a high school diploma and college degree or transferable credits.

The campus was the first in the Public Schools of Robeson County to kick off the 2024-2025 academic year. The remaining PSRC schools will welcome students back on August 26.

PSRC Superintendent Dr. Freddie Williamson shared a welcome message for students and parents on Tuesday.

“Welcome back to the 2024-2025 school year! I hope you had a restful and enjoyable summer filled with opportunities to recharge and spend time with loved ones. As we embark on this new academic year, I want to take a moment to express my excitement and anticipation for our 24-25 journey ahead with a continued commitment of ‘One Team One Goal,’” he said in a written letter posted on school and district websites and social media.

“To our students, I encourage you to embrace the opportunities before you with curiosity and enthusiasm. Whether you are starting a new grade or joining our district for the first time, remember that every day is a chance to learn, grow, and make a difference. To our parents and guardians, thank you for your continued support and partnership. Your involvement is crucial in creating a positive and successful learning environment. We look forward to working together to support your child’s education and well-being,” Williamson added.
